On June 1st, Maggie and Quyen were married in a wonderful ceremony in Tuscany. However the festivities started much earlier in the day with Tea Ceremonies first and Maggie’s parent’s home and then at Quyen’s Parent’s home. Since both had large families visiting to celebrate the festivities, there was a lot of tea served! Quyen’s broken foot didn’t damper the celebration one bit.
I have known Ginny for several years and it was wonderful to be able to capture the moments her wedding. The wedding was beautifully orchestrated but also a lot of fun. The groom Thanh was forced through a series of challenges, including eating strange food and dancing Gangnam Style before he was allowed to meet his bride.
A big thank you to all my clients for making 2012 a spectacular year!
The year started out with a fantastic and unseasonably warm February wedding. This was followed by weddings at locations all over Calgary and Southern Alberta. The venues ranged from small intimate spots like Teatro Restaurant and the Ranche House to vast sweeping locations like Spruce Meadows and Rafter 6 ranch. The finale of the wedding season was a destination wedding at a Napa Valley vineyard and included a tour of San Fransisco.
It wasn’t just weddings! My wife and I shot a ton of families and newborns sessions. These are, almost, always lots of fun.
During the year I also was lucky enough to photograph in several wonderful countries. These included Myanmar, Croatia, Slovenia and Romania.
The following are just a few of my favorite engagement, wedding, newborn and family pictures from the past year. They are in no particular order.
Given Dom’s love of horses, Rafter 6 was the ideal location for her wedding. The joy of riding a horse in her wedding dress was only eclipsed by getting married to Chris. The entire wedding day (Sept 22, 2012) was amazing, starting with the wedding ceremony at Rafter 6 ranch, a short tour of downtown Calgary and the reception at the Canyon Meadows Community Center. I was happy to be present for some of the best and funniest wedding toasts I’ve ever heard. This wedding is bringing together two very loving families.

Who knew lawyers could party so hard. On Sept 15th Lindsay was married to Blake at the Strathcona Community Centre. Not only was Lindsay the only girl to make Blake’s heart race, being an aspiring lawyer herself, she was the only one who can win an argument against him. I see fireworks in their future 😉
I was honored to be asked to photograph my friend Jason Jang’s wedding in Napa Valley at the very fancy Auberge du Soleil restaurant. It was a wonderful intimate event with great food and friends. The wedding party and I slipped away to San Fran for photos, thankfully the traffic wasn’t too bad. My wife Debbie and I wish them many happy years together.
One weekend two amazing weddings! I spent the afternoon pitching hey with Andre on his grandfather’s acreage and capturing Jenna getting ready. Later we went to heritage park for the ceremony and reception. To top off the evening, the wedding party put on the best dance performance ever!
